I like extraordinary machine a lot. It's not as good as TIDAL and WHEN THE PAWN... but it's mighty good. I'll rate each song. 10 - best, 1 - worst extraordinary machine - 9 get him back - 9 o' sailor - 8 a better version of me - 7 tymps (the sick in the head song) - 9 parting gift - 8 window - 7 oh, well - 6 please please please - 9 red red red - 6 not about love - 10 waltz - 7 As for the DVD, I loved all of the performances and let me just say, even though the song "not about love" is so angry and it has sadness and it's very serious, the music video is fuckin' hillarious! What were they thinking? Oh well, it's funny as hell! The "parting gift" video could've been a lot better. I don't like just plain performances for music videos - I like seeing them perform but the point of the music video is to be more creative with it. Anyways, all in all, good stuff and I'm glad to have my Fi-Fi back!

I'm torn. But I can say one thing for certain: Removing the strings from Not About Love has me very, very, VERY angry. I like the new version but even as I listen to it I can hear the strings in my head, they'd fit in perfectly, there was NO reason to take out such a daring sonic aspect of the piece.
Grr.

I agree, I hear the strings in my head but am disappointed that they're not on the official track.

Ok, so, I'm being either dumb or a bad Fiona fan but can someone tell me what "Tymps" means?

I bought the album yesterday due to all the hype, I figured that it had to be a good album. I'm extremely dissapointed with Extraordinary Machine, there's only like two good songs on there.
Oh well, I'll probably throw in a pile of CD's to sell in a couple of months.

I'm with you. It completely frustrates me to hear the new version of Not About Love! The original was perfection, if you ask me. And Red Red Red is very different. That one I kind of like and I now feel like I have 2 versions of a song that's pretty darn good. Window is another that frustrates me to pieces. I miss the angst of the leaked version. Did the new one really need to be almost a minute longer? No, it didn't. I also terribly miss the punchier drums of the leaked version. I look stupid now tapping my fingers on my steering wheel to drumbeats that aren't there! All the funky sounds of the new one are nice (trumpet, etc) but they don't make up for the drums. Plus I liked the other bridge part (punchier!) and ending (quieter!) better. In my stereo, Fiona will only be breaking the leaked Window. Hmmph! But I do reserve the right to completely change my mind, of course. I LOVE Parting Gift, though. Love it.

Does anyone love the DVD version of Fast As You Can as much as I do?
Note: In order to love it as much as I do, you have to love it a super-duper amount.
