For anyone who doesn't know...the shuttle Columbia has exploded/crashed over Texas this morning on it's way to Florida to land.
There are no details of why this happened, but it's pretty apparent that all life aboard was lost.
This would be terrible news at any time, but with our nation still recovering from 9/11 and the possibility of war just days away...it's even worse.
Please send your prayers...or whatever you do if you don't pray.

The Israeli astronaut was a man, not a woman. One of the women aboard was from India, but she was an American citizen.
I don't think this was a terrorist act. I believe that it was just a very devastating, unfortunate accident...just like the Challenger disaster.
I was 9 years old when that happened, but I remember it quite vividly. I was a member of the Young Astronauts program with my gifted class, and we followed the story very closely.
This just reminds me so much of that...except for all the fact that the question keeps coming up...is this terrorism? My instincts say...no.

A terrible thing to happen, but definetly not a terrorism act.
I send love to all the families who have lost a beloved person.

I like cried and cried today over this. espessially when the President started his speech, it broke my heart. What is happening to this country? And why does it seem like every generation has to go through all of these struggles? Accidents or not accidents. It just doesn't smell right to me. Not this soon you know? Something feels wrong here.

you may think this is strange (it's strange to me!!!) but in argentina the radio and the tv didn't speak about this accident... anyway, you don't have to read all the material that u have to figure out that it's a tragedy. god bless the people died in there and their families.

I know this is off the subject, sorry, i did see that on the news and it is very sad, but I wanted to ask Mandy what the picture is of that her eyes are on top of? I really love that picture. You guys are sweet to feel for the people who died and their families. I feel a little farther away all the way up here in Brooklyn. The last time I was really touched and deeply saddened by the news was when I was on vacation in Florida this past summer and on the news they were reporting about Elizabeth Smart and another 7 year old girl from somewhere closer to here, on the East Coast, who were missing. Bumblebee, like you, my heart was hearting. i feel like just flying away with everyone and keeping them safe when that happens, but what can we do? It is the saddest thing I can imagine.
