(#30) This was a nice even-headed show. Everything had a nice, even feel to it, controlled and a good audience to boot. No way was the energy levels from the NYC shows able to carryover and a good thing to, otherwise Tori would’ve worn herself out. Instead, we were treated to some rarities, kind of out-of-the-blue. Tash must be over her cold now since she had a great time bumping her head on this and that behind the stage (so Tori told us). We were treated to a different version of “Siren” from the one I remember in Vegas but still great. Not something you hear every day. Café was very cool, with “Famous Blue Raincoat,” “China,” and “Sister Janet.” It sounded like “China” when she started it but a little different. Then she went into a short improv about being in the wrong key. Beautiful. (For the first time that I remember “China” in a Café, done solo, was not accompanied by voices in the audience.) Also another improv intro commenting on the impending war. “Bells for Her” was also a nice mellow surprise.
It appears that, with the subdued energy level in the audience, my dancing was not appreciated and was a distraction for many (well, at least two who reported on the Dent). I am very sorry for this. Although I thought dancing in my seat was allowed, evidently this is just as bad a sin as bringing fairy wings, signs, or singing the lyrics. I promise to do better BUT I CANNOT HELP IT! This music is so wonderful and I cannot help but groove to it all. But I will try to contain myself for the next two shows. (Unless, of course, others are doing it, then it becomes acceptable?)
Bexface rating: 7.75 stars out of 10.
