Ok, I'm new to the forum. Hi everyone! I've been a Torifile for years and just now getting into the cyber-aspect of it all...hehe. Anyway, my question is this:
I've been reading the thread about presale disappointment...I've seen Tori from the second row in 1998 for her 5.1/2 weeks tour with alanis...and I'd LOVE to get that close again....the last 2 times I've been about row H or so and then once all the way in the back of the balcony!!! Is it better for me to take my chances and wait for the actual sale? Or go ahead and get what I can on the presale? Anyone have some good advice for me here??
Thanks for the help! Lauren

Hi Lauren,
General advice is to not go the presale route. However, it is a moot point for the Lottapianos as there are no presales for this summer tour.
That being said, I have been able to get within seven rows of the stage three times (Albany, Syracuse, and Toledo) using the presale but only getting a single ticket. In other presales, I have been further back. I think it depends on the venue (like with Radio City Music Hall, no way you would get up close via presale) and the city (is it a big city? small town?). Generally, you should check out the presale and, if you don't like what you see, don't buy any tickets and wait for the regular sale.

I didn't know there was no presale for this tour! Thanks for that info...I guess now I have no choice but to wait until Saturday when they go on sale! I'll be going to the Raleigh, NC date on August 30. I've never seen her in Raleigh, so I don't know how quickly that sells, but my assumption was that I'd have a better shot at closer seats than I would opting for the Atlanta show....(I'm in Charlotte, NC...a little closer to Raleigh than Atlanta anyway)
Thank you for your help!!! Lauren

Getting good seats can be simply about luck sometimes. My first tori concert ever I scored first row off to the left because tickets went on sale earlier than they were suppose to. pure luck. Now this last tour i bought a crap load of tickets for my best buddy we'd both be on ticketmaster and then talk on the phone at the same time saying what seats we pulled up. one time we were trying to get tickets on a general sale online, he kept getting errors or no tickets availible and i pulled row D and bought em. What we didn't realize at the time was that row D was not 4 rows behind the pit but was indeed 4th row IN the pit...yeah i about died when called me after the show and thanked me for the seats. Then on another presale i pulled row ff(6 rows back) for the 2nd chicago show and bought 3 seats...and they were amazing. Another time I bought row k seats on a presale to st.louis then went to the box office before the show and walked out with row D. so i was a nice faery and gave my tickets away to 2 girls up in the nosebleeds. What I've gathered is that it depends on luck and who's presenting the event. I learned very quickly that CC(clear channel communications) holds out on presale tickets. they usually hold several areas for the general sales and some other small ones for the nite of the concert. Try on presale then if you arent impressed or feel you can do better try again you can always sell the tickets later or give them away . Dont be afraid to get on the phone either. Sometimes you'll get some really cool person who will directly pick out a seat on the aisle or in a certain section for you(they do have that power). hope this helps wish me luck for chicago presales! r

Sorry for the earlier misinformation. There does appear to be a presales for Chicago (although not for any other shows) but I have no idea how to get into it from Ticketmonster. Probably better to just wait for Saturday.
Any luck, Jana?

the first time i got balcony and i was like no way i want main floor damn it. and so then i tried three more times and i got seats in row p in the center. at least its not over to the side like i had for the first chicago show. theyre not horrible and not great but i will see if i can find something better and maybe try and get rid of the ones i have... we'll see, so are you gonna go Karl?

Not just weird. Really frustrating. Now I see that all these presale folks got pit tickets (not usually the case for a presale). I could've been one of 'em if they had sent me the damn email. GRRR!!!

ooooooooohhhhhh....there was no presale for the charlotte area. i was online at 10 am when they went on general sale and the best i could pull up was row j!!! it was the center section, but still....J!!! so i gave them up and tried again....this time, i pulled up row g.........but they were in the second group of sections about 30 rows back from the stage!! i'm sooooooooo upset about this! i don't want to see her from 30-some odd rows back! i mean, i know it's still her, and i'm still excited, i'm just disappointed because i was expecting better. if anyone's going to the charlotte show and knows of some better seats, PLEASE let me know, i'd really appreciate it!

presale for chicago sucked, except a few handfuls of pit seats (which apparent went mostly to ebay scalpers)and row b. they werent even giving away lower box seats.lame. saturday will be better.
yourpreciousthing, you might be able to get some good seats nite of the show go to the box office before the doors open, also keep checking tickermaster a few days before the show they may release more tickets online, and check ebay a day &(1/2) or two before the show. Scalpers on there get desperate right before the show and will typically cut their prices. you can get overnite shipping or if the seller actually lives in the state of the concert you might be able to pick them up. hope this helps.

I have a very strange question.
if you have extra tickets for the show, can you get in trouble if you are selling them for face value, i mean is that like scalping? i know that is a really dumb question but I want to find better tickets or try to and then i dont know what i am going to do with the ones i already have... hope i dont sound like an idiot..

thanks for the tip, r....i'll keep my eye/ears out for any better seats. i was so bummed out when i realized how far back i was going to be! MAJOR bummer! jana, i think scalping is only selling them for higher than face value. i believe if you sell them for face value only (i don't think you're allowed to put on what you paid in service charges, either, unfortunately...i think it has to be STRICTLY face value) then you aren't doing anything wrong. my advice would be to try to sell them before the show if you can. otherwise, try to catch people in line to buy tickets, rather than the people that stand out in the parking lot...they're more likely to draw attention from authorities looking for scalpers and you don't want to be grouped with them in any way. you know? hope that helps! lauren

each state has their own rules for reselling tickets. the link below will help you find out if it's a "crime" or what the particular rules are in your state. www.ncsl.org/programs/lis/ticketscalplaws.htmhowever...you can kinda play with the rules if you are selling the tickets to a different state w/different rules. below are the ebay rules(which arent always enforced with ticket scapling or for anything else illegal on ebay!) pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-tickets.htmlso depending on where you live and who you are selling to will be the deciding factor. I hope this helps r
