I'll write more tomorrow since it's 2am and I'm very tired... suffice to say quite exciting! She played a lot of my favorites, more than I expected to. I had pretty good seats, I was near the back of the Orchestra right in the center. Even with these good seats I didn't have that great a view of Tori. I could see her and her movements, but I could barely see her face, which was a shame. Still, very special! The light show was really cool and added to the mood, though everytime the lights pass by you they practically blind you! And get this, the sheer power of Tori blew out one of the theater speakers, by the last two songs this one speaker on the left kept making static noises Tell me if this is normal... the first half hour was some warm up act... the second half hour was intermission... then we got 90 minutes of Tori counting the two encores. I found this incredibly weird, but I've never been to a concert before, so.... ;D Set List (not in order): Scarlet's Walk: Wampum Prayer (this opened the concert) A Sorta Fairytale Sweet Sangria Mrs Jesus Pancake Wednesday I Can't See New York (I'm normally not that hot on this song, but her live version really involved me) Strange (this was her last one) Oldies But Goodies: Liquid Diamonds Cornflake Girl (holy crap she was SO amazing with the piano) Silent All These Years (sorry but I didn't really like the way she played my all-time fav) Take to the Sky (as this was a B-Side I wasn't familiar with it but I *loved* how she sang it, and the way she banged on the side of her piano when she wanted the audience to clap along) (some song about Daniel I think by Elton John?) Black Dove (they really blasted the sound on this one, I loved it!) 1000 Oceans Glory of the 80s Talula (she kept subsituting "her" for "Talula" in this one) Past the Mission Iieee (this was her big finish one, they played in extra voice tracks and everything it was INCREDIBLE) Crucify Juarez (taking a complicated techno song and simplfying it into Tori, piano, guitar, and drums was really wonky) Not the Red Baron Caught a Lite Sneeze

OMG!!!!You got iieee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you lucky duck! And for the finale, yet. (that would be perfect ending) Wow! So now you are de-Tori-virginized....Sounds like it was a great show. I tell people they have not seen true fierceness and power until they have either been in the eye of a hurricane or seen Tori play "Cornlake Girl" LIVE!!! It's the most amazing thing, isn't it?! Woooo! And I felt the same way about ICSNY after seeing it live. LOL about the light show blinding you, ya, you gotta kinda develop a rhythm with the lights...look away a little bit when they do the changes. I think the flow of the night sounds about right....what was it that felt weird to you? I was going to comment that i cannot believe Tori would play all the SW songs right off the bat & all together like that....but then i saw that you typed "not in order"...but you got many great tunes in that whole set list. So in Talula she kept saying "her" instead? So: Her, Her, you don't want to lose her? ....like that?! lol, weird! Take to the Sky is on the Winter single....it's one of my favorites & i'm so glad she's been performing live on this tour so much...the piano banging thing she does with her hand is adorably electrifying! ( You can say it one more tiiiiiiiime...) OMG, Mr. Light, you are getting me so excited to see Tori again...Wooo! So do you feel all different now?! LOL Glad you had fun.....Oh, and I'm sorry you did not get to hear your beloved Datura.....but at least you got Wednesday and other favorites! Btw, did you go with your roommate/friend? What did he think?

my roommate/friend Matt went with me yes, and he couldn't understand a damn word she was saying but he liked the music he said he was delighted she did "Silent All These Years" because apart from "Raspberry Swirl" it's the only song he knows!

Another thing, it was so amazing how she can play two pianos at once without even looking at the damn things!!! She had FOUR keyboards up there; the piano, the string synthesizer on top of the piano (which she used only for "Iieee" as I recall), and the harsicord thingee which had two parts to it.
I mean, just Tori on the piano alone sounds like a "full" song, not just some chick on a piano, yknow what I mean?

My husband was really not into her music at all when i took him to the 5 1/2 weeks concert a few years ago. He left there with a whole new appreciation of Tori as a musician after seeing her live & seeing how she's able to do what she does with those pianos (and he mentioned something about how she also works the stool! lol ) "not just some chick on a piano"......nope!

I absolutely love when she plays two pianos at once. Seeing her is so powerful. And you got SATY! I got that my first time too! WOOOOOOOOOOOO for you! And just so you know, every concert starts out with an opening act. I've been to some with two or three, so I love that Tori just has one.

Cool beans, MrLight. Hopefully, your roommate was enlightened (but to the point of breaking his Christian upbringing?). She now plays Iieeee (instead of Spring Haze), right after ICSNY, so it looks like that pattern will repeat. She should play it for every show on this leg (for those who want it). Sorry about Datura; I don't think she's ever played it live so far. But to have heard Red Baron and Daniel during the Cafe. O MY!!! You got a good show for your first time around. Now when's your next??

I do love Iieee, but I will miss my beloved Spring Haze.

Hmmm, losing your concert virginity to Tori must have been amazing! I think it's the only virginity you can lose where the first time IS actually the best, and then it's all down hill from there...

lol... I just think this is a funny quote because I keep reading reviews by people who are ecstatic when the audience DOESN'T clap to this song! It's, like, one of the biggest controversies in the EWF universe at the moment.

It's, like, one of the biggest controversies in the EWF universe at the moment. I know, it's amazing how people get over Tori's playing it one way or another. But here's what i think (oh, i'm sorry, didn't you need 2cents? lol).....TTTS is Tori's girl....so however it moves her to be played is how i'm gonna enjoy Tori playing it! My feeling is "how dare" people tell the creator of a song how they think it should be played! woo! *steps off soapbox with nose still in the air*

So that song was called Daniel? Was it an Elton John song? Wait, was the audience supposed to clap along with "Take to the Sky" or not? Btw I've been playing that non-stop ever since the concert Hmmm, losing your concert virginity to Tori must have been amazing! I think it's the only virginity you can lose where the first time IS actually the best, and then it's all down hill from there... I wouldn't know about that one

So that song was called Daniel? Was it an Elton John song? Wait, was the audience supposed to clap along with "Take to the Sky" or not? Btw I've been playing that non-stop ever since the concert I wouldn't know about that one Yes, Mr. Light, that song is called Daniel & it is an Elton John/Bernie Taupin song....one of his greatest hits. Tori has covered it several times, and I love it. ..your eyes have died, but you see more than I....Daniel, you're the star in the face of the sky. You can find it on the album: "Don't shoot me, I'm Only the Piano Player" (lol) or on countless Elton John Hits albums. It's from the early 70's & was written for/about a Vietnam Vet. Take to the Sky is addicting huh? Btw, this is the most commented-on Concert Review thread in history! lol And me with my big mouth, i keep commenting more! Just glad you got to experience Tori & know her talent/impact in a LIVE sense. As for the other thing.....it will happen when it happens! (and we'll expect you to start a thread about it!! lmao!! j/k ) ;D
