#1 How Do I Post Text Effects?
Posting Text Effects are easy. When posting a message on the board there are a few buttons right above your text box specifying different effects such as Glow, Moving, color, size, and even a button for posting an image (picture). If you scroll your mouse over each button and hold it there it will tell you what those specific buttons do. Simply click on the effect you would like to use and use it. For example if I were to post a picture this is what it would look like (Only without spaces):
[ img ] www.picture.com/mypicture.jpg [ /img ]
Certain TAGS will appear for each effect, in between those specific tags for each specific effect it will say "TEXT". Simply replace the word "TEXT" with either your link or words that fit what effect you are trying to do. That goes for altering color or size. Always specify what size you want for example:
[ size=8 ] TEXT [ /size ]
I specified that I would like my text to be 8 in size. If I wanted it to be any other size I would specify.
#2 Where Can I Upload Pictures For Free?
If you are looking for a wonderful place to upload pictures for free we suggest using some of the sites below. These are known as "hosting sites" because they allow you to upload an image or picture (from your own computer) and have it "hosted" there. By doing that, the site will create a URL (http...) for your image. You simply need to insert that URL in the space that comes up when you use " " button located in the text reply box. [See item #3 for more specific instructions]
Some FREE hosting sites we recommend:
www.photobucket.com
www.villagephotos.com
www.imagemagician.com
www.boomspeed.com
#3 How Do I Post a Picture / Picture Link?
You may click the image button and have the image tags automatically show up in your post, or you may type them out yourself.
The Image tags are simple and basically it's like this:
[ img] URL [ /img] except for I used spaces so that this would show up for you. So remember to NEVER USE SPACES!
EXAMPLE:
[ IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/Melbee/beekeeper.jpg[/IMG]
Without the spaces in the above code, the image would actually show up. Like this:
Note: You may PREVIEW your post to see that you've typed a correct link and typed the image tags correctly.... when you preview your post your image should show in the preview post box, but your code will still show as typed out in your post-reply box where you typed it.
Then just submit your post and the the image will be posted correctly.
HOW DO I MAKE A WORD OR A PICTURE LINK??
Making a word link:
Use this code (again, do not put spaces in the brackets; spaces are only there so you can see how the code looks):
[ url=http://whatever.website.you.want.linked.]Word or Words such as "click here"[/ url]
All you need to do is put in the website you want linked, and then put in the word or words you want to show for people to click on to get to that link.
Example: (I removed the spaces in the above code so you can see how it would turn out)
Word or Words such as "click here"
Making a picture link:
Use the same code as above, but instead of typing in words between the url tags, just type in the URL of the image you want to show that people will get to click on.
Let's say you and another member are talking about frogs and you want to give your friend a link to a webpage about frogs. You can have the friend click on the frog to get there, like this:
(I added spaces so you can see the code; don't add spaces when you actually do it)
[ URL=http://www.exploratorium.edu/frogs/img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/Melbee/frogclip6.gif[ /IMG][ /URL]
Again, replace the URL in the tags AND the url between the tags to specify what you want. It should show up just like this:
When you click on the image, it links you to the site.
#4 I Registered But I Can't Get In?
That is probably because you need to go check your e-mail. In your e-mail they will specify a password for you to get into the forum. Please get that password, enter it in the login box and you should be able to get in.
You can always go into your profile and CHANGE your password to something you'll remember.
Note: It is STRONGLY recommended to pick a password that has a combination of letters and numbers... the more unusual the better.
Another reason you may not be getting into the board is either our host is working on the forums or we are currently in Maintanence mode meaning we are working on the forum and will open it up as soon as we can.
#5 May I Register Under Two or More Names?
Please DO NOT.
If you experience a problem with your username and it becomes necessary to create a new one, please contact an Admin or Moderator so we will know about it and we can assist you first. We do not appreciate forum confusion and will ban anyone who attempts to mess with our heads by pretending to be other people. One personality per person, please.
#6 You Have My IP Address? What Does This Mean?
Only Admins and Moderators have access to seeing members' IP addresses.
Each user has an IP address. IP stands for Internet Provider. Basically each computer is directed to a certain IP address. So if someone attempts to hack into our forum and mess with things or if someone gets out of hand and abuses their posting privileges we can use the IP address to ban that person, and use it as a reference if further action is needed.
Admins and Moderators DO NOT give out information regarding members' IP addresses, nor do they have access to any members' PM boxes.
#7 My Post Was Deleted Why?
If your post was deleted it was probably because one of the following:
- You went against our forum guidelines and broke one of the few rules we have in this forum to maintain peace in our community by what you have posted.
- It was a technical glitch and we had nothing to do with it. (although usually glitches can be fixed so please do let us know of your problem)
- You posted really disturbing images on our forum or sexual references in graphic form. This forum is also for children so keep in mind we do not approve of overly sexual content at all. All posts should be made with a "PG-13" audience in mind, since proboards forums allow members to be 13 and older.
We MUST abide by this guideline or else risk having our board deleted.
- You did not meet the age requirement of 13 years or older. If this is the case a Moderator or Admin will have privately contacted you to explain why the age requirement is necessary and why your posts and username were deleted.
#8 Can You Take Me Off Of The Mailing List ?
No unfortunately we cannot, by signing up for this forum you have also signed up to recieve any news from us from time to time. However we DO NOT spam members and rarely send info.
#9 Why Did You Make This Forum?
"I made this forum because I know how important it is to gather people together to talk about Tori on all kinds of levels. Her music is a personal thing for me and I want to see what good hearted souls think of her as well. It's just a place of gathering. Sure I have lots to do in my life but this was an important step for me to take. I want to teach people that we can build a forum for toriphiles to gather that doesn't include the daily drama of other forums on the net. A clean safe place. Safe for the most part because of course no forum is perfect."
- Haullie, founder of toriforum
#10 Where Is The Chat Room?
At the top of the forum there is a link to our chat room. We have 2 specified Chat rooms for both MSN and Yahoo Users. You must be a registered user of both to join the chat room and start discussions.
#11 Where Are The Forum Guidelines?
On TORIFORUM's Main page we have specified a direct link at the very top of the forum catagories for the Forum Guidelines. Please be sure to read all of the Guidelines BEFORE you begin your first post.
#12 How Do I Change My Skin/Layout?
There is an option when you're in the "Modify Profile" Page that allows you to change your own personal layout, also known as a "skin". We have several skins for you to choose from.
When you are in the "Modify Profile" page, scroll down past the "Account Preferences". There is a drop down menu at the bottom where it says, "Select Skin". Don't forget to save!
Got A Question that isn't answered above?
Post your question on the "Suggestions, Questions, Complaints" board, or Private Message Me or any Mod!
PLEASE DO NOT POST REPLIES/QUESTIONS TO THIS THREAD.
It is for reading purposes only.
Thanks!
