...not. It's absolutely horrible here today. Forecast is 39 C (102 F) and there's an extremely hot and strong wind to go with it. The smoke is back, although the fires aren't directly threatening Canberra right now. Huge chunks of south-eastern Australia are in serious trouble, especially in the mountains, but thankfully we should be OK around here. Anyone got some cold air I could borrow?

We haven't had snow for a while, but the sky is all cloudy and grey and it feels like we're the only place left in the entire world.

Right! Yesterday was Canberra's 6th-hottest ever at 40-41 degrees (104 to 105F). Add gale force winds and we had the highest fire danger rating in history. The only reason we didn't have a disaster on our hands again was there weren't any fires close enough to the city. Lots of small towns got evacuated though.
...but today they're only forecasting 26C (79F). All that hot air must have gone somewhere. Hopefully it went to all of you needy people freezing your a$$ off!

i would rather by cold than hot anyday..you can add layers and take them off, but you can't take off your skin when you get hot! xo My senior quote in my yearbook was "You can only take off so many clothes before you get arrested" which came from a conversation I had with a friend about how in cold weather you can always put on more clothes, but there are only so many you can take off when it's hot.

i would rather by cold than hot anyday..you can add layers and take them off, but you can't take off your skin when you get hot! xo That's true. Plus being cold gives you an excuse to get all bundled up in blankets and drink hot cocoa (or tea and coffee!!) It's just a pain when you have to get a lot of things done outside of the house. I live on a hill, so I open the front door and get a gust of freezing air and snow. I tend to procrastinate a lot in the winter to avoid going outside Then again, I'm sure I'll be begging for the snow when I'm sweating bullets in August!
