No, definitely NOT Hoochie Woman. That song is so groovin' and it gives the album such a cute kick, I love it.
I'll reserve my comments until...
well, I'll just reserve them.

I haven't seen the DVD yet because we only have one DVD player in our house and it's connected to the TV where the boys play video games. They in turn are connected to the controllers and never leave the couch.

I'm disappointed by this song.
But I really loved her interview. It was really great. I'll watch it again soon.

I get chills each and every time the Garlands-chorus part comes. From "Circus,"... to "..the 1/2 open window". It's hard to not cry at every single one of her words. Sheesh, how does she do that to me? Because the first time I heard this was while watching the dvd, I can now actually see and feel the garlands "streaming" in my mind when I hear this song just by itself. Amazing, the sense of movement a few piano keys can bring. One of the reasons I love this song so much is because I get the distinct impression that Tori is right in the room with me and has just sat down at her piano (which wouldn't fit anywhere in my house, but just go with me here) to play this song off the top of her head for me. Not saying that it doesn't sound like a very well-worked song, it most certainly has a central idea and story and intentional quietness. But it's also so simply beautiful in the way I remember experiencing when hearing songs like "Mother" and "Winter" and "Baker Baker" the first times I heard them. It blew me away that a voice and a piano could move me SO much in a few minutes. Here I have 8 glorious minutes of it. And after all the various rich places she goes on the Beekeeper album proper, it's nice to have this quiet, yet powerful piece. I love it, every minute of it. To my thirdsies: This song definitely satisfies my craving for depth/darkness we were talking about. (C, do it sooner rather than later!) To Helen: I love you. Thanks.

One more thing: I'm so glad Tori decided to go with "Garlands" for the title.

Don't worry, Maz! I plan on listening to it sooner than later! How could I possibly skip over a Tori song that mentions my other Twin City?! And I think I actually like St. Paul more than Minneapolis...but we won't get into that. Jason, what's your opinon? Which city do you like better?

Caz, I'll let you soak in the song a bit, but I think you'll agree after hearing it that the St. Paul mentioned in the song isn't the Twin City one.Damn it! Aw, hell, who am I kidding? I am soooo beyond caring about my Twin Cities right now... in Winter.... ♪

I do I do! WHY isn't this song on the CD? That's exactly what I've been whining about! (Ditch Ireland and bring us the story told through French lithographs, dammit!)
