I have come with my mustard seed....This song is amazingly deep and dark and full of richness. It's got a MOOD of its own. What a terrific title track. Loved her explanation of it on the dvd, too. Sean and I really like how the beginning sounds like bees buzzing around a hive... that droning sound. It's slightly spooky. Then the song breaks with the chorus to become light and pretty. Then that wrap yourself around the Tree of Life part comes and it's all dark and deep again. Ahhh, the drums. The lyrics are killer, too. God, I LOVE this song. How beautiful is Tori's voice at the end of the lines that get higher?! I love the way she stretches the end of one line into the next at those parts. My favorite part: In your gown with your breathing mask Plugged into a heart machine as if you ever needed one. This song makes me calm and slightly on edge. Like I want to really pay attention for what happens next. I'm haunted and fascinated by it. I know Sean is, too. It's his top favorite Beekeeper song. A definite top favorite for me.

I don't even know where to start. I personally connect this song to the dedication in the back to Michael Amos... I want to read more on this topic, I'm sure the story is out there somewhere. This song has a very powerful feel to it, yet I can tell that she's talking about something very specific as well as something very wide-reaching. I get the impression it's about death and the afterlife, but it was prompted by the hospital stay of a loved one. I really like how she says "she'll awake tomorrow..." I think I know exactly what she means and it's ridiculously beautiful. Just amazing. As for the sonic aspects... What Mary said But I'd like to add that it definitely makes me visualize something very similar to the "Desert Garden" picture. I could feel the wind blowing, before I even heard her sing the first lines. Two funny stories though. 1) This song really reminds me of a certain variety of levels in the videogame for Super Nintendo called Donkey Kong Country 2. I think if anyone listened to the music from these levels they'd understand why, honestly. It's weird how similar this song is to something so random and from so long ago. 2) I thought she was saying "Flags and hair blowing in the wind..." HEY! It makes sense and you know it.

I might've thought the same thing had I not had the lyrics in hand before the first lovely listen and knew what to expect. I had another 'KissThisGuy' moment in Mother Revolution, though: I thought she was saying .. was another MURDER of a Mother Revolution. Eeek.

the beginning sounds like a björk song... or like it could easily be a björk song. and that's certainly a GOOD thing. however, i have to say that it's my least favourite song...

LOL, Matt, read my post on MFG song by song thread. Oh, boy.
I just came here to share my chills-moment. Yesterday Carly and I were discussing chills-worthy moments on this album and besides the other lines I already posted about the heart machine, hear is one of my other moments in this song:
"I know you want my, You want my Queeeeeeeeeeeeen. Anything but this, Can you uuuuse me instead?"
Oh, gosh, I love that part.

Ok, that whole part with the Tree of Life and Infinity of the hive was beautiful... but now that I looked a little closer and read the lyrics and realized the lyrics in the background are "Take this message to Michael..."
Well, coupled with the dedication in the back. I mean. Yeah. It makes me get all teary-eyed... definitely a powerful moment.

I LOVE that part of the song but I'll admit I thought she was saying take this message to "my girl". (as in, the one that's promised will awake tomorrow). When I read the lyrics along with the song I saw the difference and it is indeed a lovely dedication within the song.

Ok, at first I wasn't grabbed by this song at all.
Now... MAN! I like the darkness of it, the overall mood. But I also like the kindness of the Beekeeper -- firm but fair.
It's funny: I don't really share the view on death and life after it with Tori, but I can empathize with it and I agree with Jason -- the way she portrays it is beautiful.
I read now somewhere that she had written this song with her mother in mind, who had been very ill, and then was surprised that it was actually Michael whom the Beekeeper took away... So I'm guessing she added the "take this message to Michael" into the song later?

This track floors me- you've already pin-pointed my favorite parts... you want my queeeeen and take this message to michael. the chorus is so light like and the organ work is beautiful. i love how bees dance the infinity symbol and how "she will awake somewhere tommorrow" relates. My 85 year old Nanny was dying, on a "heart machine" last month and this song was really in all of it for me at the time. she was my favorite and it was really hard to see her take her last breath- but i do believe she'll awake somewhere (don't know where) tomorrow

This song is so haunting. It reminds me of a choirgirl and venus sound with the beat throughout the song. I love when she goes gradually low singing "it is time for the geese to heeeaaad sooooouuuuth". "the dance of the infinity" is really eerie and beautiful at the same time. I love that line for what it is. The most eerie part though is "maybe I'm passing you by, just passing you by" as well as "someday I'll be coming for yoooooooouuuu." Whew! CHILLS, I tell you! But the part that really grabs my heart (especially when performed) is when she repeats, "I have come for the Beeeekeeeeeeeeeeperrrrrrrr" and it hits this really low note that shakes the room and vibrates and just makes your eyes cross...whew... chills again... Here's my interpretation of it: toriforum.proboards47.com/index.cgi?board=saywhat&action=display&thread=1118680387
