I'm just wondering, has she ever played that before the Chicago show? She must have, I'm sure, but I'd feel so honored if that was the first live performance.
Sigh, someone is going to come along and prove me wrong... well, I want to know either way! Anyone have some info on this? I really don't want to browse setlists all over the place...

There's a really comprehensive setlist database somewhere, I think you can access it via the Dent. The point being, you can search by SONG not just by concert date. It's really easy. It's how I established the chances of hearing Alamo live are tiny.

Ahhh see, I went to the Dent, but I didn't see that. I was even looking specifically for something to search by song! Well, I'll check again then. Thanks And hey, you think the chances of Apollo's Frock were phenomenal? I doubt it, yet I still got my number 2 song. So there's hope yet for Alamo.

OMG!!![/b]
I HEARD TORI AMOS PLAY APOLLO'S FROCK FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER LIVE!!!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Ok I'm going to go spill my freakishness all over other people's pages now, sorry... I'm just... that makes me unbelIEVably happy. You have no idea. This more than makes up for missing Purple Rain, it makes up for it a billionfold... and I thought I would always be sad about that concert. Finally some relief!

Here's the setlist data base site I use: www.toriset.org/... and at yessaid there's an mp3 of Tori doing Apollo's Frock from her 1996 soundcheck at the Boston show. I think it starts in after about 3 minutes into the recording. I don't know if that's the first-ever time she "played" it, but it's the only other recording of it I know of from a show, even though technically it wasn't played AT that show. And funnily enough, Purple Rain was.

Tori sings an Apollonian improv: Put me back in the cold, I Yes, just drop me in drop me down.. Put me back in the cold, I'm, going to Antarctica in your garage in your garage... I'm losing you now in my rearview I said I'm losing you...hey...you know me....mmmmThen she launches into Doughnut. The setlist for the Meter Sessions was: 1. Horses/Fool On The Hill 2. This Old Man/Putting The Damage On 3. Improv/Doughnut Song (at the end of this 7-minute version, she giggles and says 'Ok, let's do something fun. 3. Muhammad My Friend 4. Caught A Lite Sneeze (the first half is acapella, then on the Bosey) It is a beautiful, gorgeous, intense set and it makes me weep everytime. CALS is very special acapella I found this at www.turbidblue.com/ by joining up. If I knew how to work those 'yousendit' sites, I'd upload them from my computer as well.

Thanks, gals Hmm, so she did it in a soundcheck and she did an improv of it at the Meter Sessions... Still, I got the first full public live performance and I'll still for that. So: Also, it amazes me that she's had such a beautiful song around for so long and had never even played it in front of a full audience or put it on CD or anything. Well, then again, Snow Cherries was the same way... Edit: Oooohhhh a song statistics database... I'm in love.

It seems there's an awful lot of song ideas she had around 1996/7 that weren't finished then and are still coming out of the woodwork - Snow Cherries From France, Apollo's Frock, Martha's Foolish Ginger... I'm still waiting for the Fair Motor Maids of Japan to turn up one day. Maybe they already have in another form. And where the blazes has Zero Point got to?
