Hey, toriforum bunch, this is Mary in yet another username for a specific purpose.
I'm backing up all the coding info for our site, should anything ever happen to it. That way I can simply plug in everything again.
However, if anything ever happens to the entire board that causes it to disappear (fear not, it doesn't happen often and when it does it's usually a temporary server problem that gets fixed) I'd like to have emergency systems in place to set up our board on another proboards URL if that should be necessary (and we all hope it won't.)
Part of my systems check is compiling every member's e-mail address into a file (that only I see) so that if anything happens I can notify each of you to let you know what's happening and if/where we've had to set up a new forum.
Again, this is only for emergency purposes and the only person seeing this list will be either myself or the other admins.
I originally planned to copy/paste the members list here and then make a list from the e-mails provided there, and I'll probably do that anyway. But there's the issue that some of the members don't really visit here anymore and/or their e-mail addresses are no longer good.
It would be much easier if the members who check in here regularly (like YOU, reading this!) could simply take 5 seconds to
PM ME ("Housekeeping") WITH YOUR CURRENT E-MAIL ADDRESS.
Even if you don't check in here regularly, but you want to be sure to be notified in the future, please do PM me your e-mail address.
I will then make the list of e-mails and I'll save it with the other toriforum important info that I keep.
If you have our e-mail address hidden in your profile, rest assured I will not make it visible. This is only for my safekeeping as the Admin of this site.
After I've read and noted the e-mail address from each PM, I'll reply to you with "got it", so you'll know your address was added to my list.
I'd just hate to lose any of you!
Thanks,
- Mary
PS- I've been thinking about doing this for a while and just today I saw there are 3 entire proboards servers that are down. If we were on one of them, I'd want to have a way to e-mail you guys to let you know what's going on. ;D
