Hi, everyone. I just wanted to say hi and wave as I miss all of you and have been thinking of you. I haven't had much time at all to myself, but, Mary, I've been thinking of you, and, Carly, don't think I've forgotten you! I'm going to look for something warm for you when I shop for Christmas gifts....Everyone else, hope you are well.

Thanks guys. I should know tomorrow about my fav. seasonal position. It's at the Gap and the manager loved me but she still needed to check on reference. I think it's to make sure I'm not a cereal killer. I'll be happy with this position for now but will feel much better when something better comes along. Sabsy~ Woo hoo for your first sesion. I hope you like this person and the session goes well. EDIT: I lied. I didn't find out until last nite about my #1 choice and it is finally official.......... I GOT THE JOB!!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU YAY!!

Oh, one other thing: I just wanted to say sorry for not visiting/contributing much in the last couple of months. Of course you guys know that I absolutely LOVE coming here, but I sort of haven't been feeling quite myself lately -ugh, it's weird, but I know I'm not the first!! A couple of people close to me haven't been very well either, and I think it's affected me more than I thought before. So, if I'm curled up on the couch having a chirp every now and then, it's only me feeling weird, LOL. When things settle down more in my head (I need to have plans, plans!), I'm sure I'll be chirping with a bit more gusto. Love all you birdies Hels xoxox

My pupu-boy will arrive at the railway station Saturday 11th. Whee!! I'm so happy! Finally, after 6 months of struggling with the visa and 4 months of not seeing him! This means that I won't be around at all for a few days from Saturday on, and also after that fairly little because I'll start working on my MA thesis alongside entertaining K. and trying to have a social life... Also, there's the up-coming Christmas holiday which we'll be spending at my parents' where there's not even a computer around, let alone an internet access. So might be that you won't hear much from me before New Year's. I'll do my best to update my journal as usual, so the ones who have livejournals can read up on my life (the entries will mostly be hidden from public, sorry) and I'll also try to pop in here so you won't forget me completely

Jenni, have a sweet Christmas and enjoy your time with your boyfriend. What is your thesis about? Thank you Elizabeth I'll continue/expand my BA paper topic, which was roughly "Political and private bodies in John Irving's The Cider House Rules". In that paper I focused only on the female bodies (it's more or less about who has the control over their bodies, through abuse, medicine or societal rules and what point is Irving making there because the novel was written in the beginning of 1980s, during big human right's movements in the US), but in the MA I'll expand it to the male ones, as well. It seems that all the characters in the novel somehow lose control over their own bodies, it's pretty interesting.

Jenni , I love Cider House Rules and I think the two women in it ultimately do exercise control over their own bodies. I would love to read you r thesis! Hmm, just thinking, its curious how Rose Rose has to resort to very typical male violence to protect her own body. The two women are strong women and both characters I liked it and related to.

Hmm, just thinking, its curious how Rose Rose has to resort to very typical male violence to protect her own body. The two women are strong women and both characters I liked it and related to. If you ever have the time to read, I can send you a copy (via email) of my BA thesis which was all about the women in the novel. If you can stand the text of a non-native speaker and some very silly mistakes! I also address the issue of most of the women in the novel "reclaiming their bodies" (bah, theoretical jargon...), like you mentioned. In my next thesis it'll be discussing also (like I mentioned) how when in the end, the women reclaim their own bodies, the men somehow lose control over theirs (very violently, or passively as in the case of Homer). I used to love Cider House Rules, but now that it's been under my magnifying class for almost 3 years, I can't enjoy it quite as objectively anymore Also, thank you Mary He's here now, so all's well (cooking for me, yay!)

I'm leaving to go to my grandparents' for Winter Break. I'll be there until January 13th-ish. Anyway, the last time I was there (over Thanksgiving) whenever I signed on to Toriforum I had some "cursor error" window pop up and it wouldn't let me do anything. The point of this story is that I won't be around very much the next few weeks and I'll miss you all terribly. , Carly

So, I bought a house yesterday...
...technically speaking, I *committed* to buying a house. It's not mine until I pay the full price in February, but having done a 10% deposit I'm locked into the deal.
