Sorry everyone that I have been away so much! I've been healing from my knee-accident (still in rehabilitation) and working like a maniac. Now I'm however back, at least for this weekend... Anyways, I was wondering if you guys would be interested in the next clubbish reading. Sabsy suggested a book some time ago and when I checked what it was, it was a self-help book of a sort. Right? Now, probably we all do not have access to it, but we could try to read it--or any other self-help books that you want others to hear about. Wanna recommend some here? Or if you have an idea for a club activity, go ahead and suggest here. We can choose from your suggestions.

Yeah sounds good to me. I actually have one such book that I was wanting to re-read anyway!

We could choose a category or genre for a book, then get suggestions for titles, then have a poll as to which book to read together. Then we could have a chat to discuss the book. xo

Good idea, Natasha! Do you guys have any objections to us choosing a self-help book as the genre? You could then suggest titles and we'd have a poll like Natasha suggested. You may post here your suggestions and/or yay or nay for the genre. Also, considering how self-help books are not very popular at least in Finland (I don't dare to speak for the whole Europe) it could be that the winner cannot even be found in our bookstores and libraries, but I'm sure whoever cannot find that particular book can then find something else pertaining to the genre and still participate. If you want to suggest other genres, go ahead!

I'm all for the self-help thing. I'll think about some titles and get back to the thread. Edit: Here are some titles (I haven't read any of these, just looked them up online): Self-Esteem Issues:Lovingkindness: The Revolutionary Art of Happiness by Sharon Salzberg. The Self-Esteem Companion by Matthew McKay, et. al. What's Right With Me: Positive Ways to Celebrate Your Strengths, Build Self-esteem, and Reach Your Potential by Carlene DeRoo, Carolyn DeRoo. Depression:Control Your Depression by Peter Lewinsohn, et. al. Exercising Your Way to Better Mental Health: Combat Stress, Fight Depression and Improve Your Overall Mood and Self-Concept with these Simple Exercises by Larry Leith. Listening to Depression: How Understanding Your Pain Can Heal Your Life by Lara Honos-Webb. ============ I found all these titles at: www.books4selfhelp.com/xo xo

Thanks Natasha! I'll change the title of this thread and let's wait for a while for people to come back from the holidays to see if we can get more titles. If not, we'll start with yours and like I said, if these books cannot be found in your area, grab the nearest and most interesting self-help book Sabrina and Aimee, could you once again mention the books you had in mind as well? I'm really bad with self-help stuff as I haven't read, so this should be an interesting read!

Well the only one I have is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz (I think his name is.. can't quite see the book from here).
I only read it once, ages ago, and was feeling pretty intolerant of people those last few weeks at work - so was thinking of reading it again! lol..
If we all tried to read the same title, I'm not sure I'll be able to find whatever one ends up winning a poll. They all sound interesting but unless I can find it at the crappy library nearby I might not read it. But will see how it goes.

Same here, Aimee. I'm fairly suspicious of finding any of the titles mentioned so far in our library just because, well, Finland isn't too big on self-help stuff or it's just catching up. Hmm. Maybe you guys can keep on recommending and posting titles here and if we can find them, then that's good, but if not, we'll grab some other self-help stuff our libraries do offer

We could also all read our own choice for Self-Help and then share some of the ideas and concepts in a thread or a chat. xo

Ok, I think that's the best suggestion! I'll start a new thread...
