1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Went walking on Nose Hill about once a week.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes, mine was to be a somewhat normal weight by my 25th birthday and I was.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister-in-law's sister had a daughter
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No
5. What countries did you visit?
Just Canada
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Peace, not being so sick, it's the stress.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 8th because Shaun and I broke up, and March 20th when I found out about 'that other girl'. But we got back together that day too.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Writing music for Voices of Strength www.voicesofstrength.org then releasing my first E.P. girls.voicesofstrength.org
9. What was your biggest failure?
Dropping out of school to take care of my mom.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Oh god, I've been sick all year. Sick to my stomach, sick in my heart.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A tascam DP-01FX 8 track portastudio
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Carly and Sabsy
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My mom's
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent and musical equipment, we have a little home studio
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting these grades in the first semester of the year: A-, A, A+
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Girl by Tori Amos. (Maybe one day she'll be her own)
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? In comparison with last year this time, I'm happier with Shaun, sadder with other things. I'm quite depressed actually.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner. I've lost about 30-40lbs this past year.
iii. richer or poorer? The same. I'm a student and a musician, it's hard to have money.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Actually, this was my most productive year creatively. I've done tonnes of drawing, painting, songwriting, recording and a lot of fun things. I wish I had've spent more time with mom before fell and got really sick
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing out about mom
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with the fam, it was so-so. But sad because it's moms last.
21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I did, with my husband. On this day last year we broke up and I love him more today than ever before.
22. How many one-night stands?
I've never had a one-night stand.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
Arrested Development, Lost, The Sopranos, Desperate Housewives
24. What was the best book you read?
Mondays are Yellow, Sundays are Grey by Ellen Prescott. It's a true account of one woman's struggle to save her two daughters from sexual abuse at the hands of their father. It was very therapeutic.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I know too much music to have discoveries very often but someone did bring the vinyl LP over for God Speed You Black Emporer and I loved it.
26. What did you want and get?
Good grades. Mission Accomplished. I can't wait to go back to school next September.
27. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Wall by Pink Floyd. It is also my favorite album right now.
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 25 and I spent it with my family. Everyone came, we had pink and white balloons, and a HUGE cake!
29.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If Rachael had never been introduced back into our lives. She's "that other girl" and she's shaun's ex-girlfriend from before we started dating. Holy shit, I swear if I ever meet her again I'll smash her face in with a baseball bat. Oh yeah, she showed up at our house randomly on August 20th, our anniversary. Nice.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
I wore a lot of sweaters. I fell in love with how I looked in blue and pink.
31. What kept you sane?
Understanding that *this* will be over in _____ days. It was my motto, in fact I said it to myself today. "In 2 years this won't be in the forefront anymore and the pain will go away"
32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Funnily enough me and my friend Steph had an obsession with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, lol.
33. What political issue stirred you the most?
The war, I guess. I hate politics.
34. Who did you miss?
Nicole
35. Who was the best new person you met?
Steve and Joe from my band.
36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
~I have no control over all of this, but I do have control over how I react to things. I need to not stress out as much or I might become like someone that I don't want to become.
~You never know who you're friends are, I'm not going to chase those people anymore. I show my friends love and support and very few of them show it back, so I'm not going to go out of my way to try to make those people happy anymore.
