definitely not representative of Tori's career at all, but then again, very few debuts are, unless the artist is already beginning at its peak, which might be great for the time being, but it'll turn out to be a curse at the end of the day, seeing as every subsequent record will be compared to that fiery start (Alanis anyone?), but i don't find YKTR to be bad per se. i actually quite like it as a record. of course there's very little you can take seriously there, but so what?

Well put, Hellfire. I recently saw a list of bands who peaked with their debut: Guns n' Roses, Weezer, John Prine, Strokes, Television. Not sure I agree with all of them but it's kind of sad to think a band has nowhere to go but down. That said, I think a lot of artists emerge, if not fully formed, at least mostly formed: Patti Smith and Elvis Costello come to mind.
