This is something that was handed out in my friends class last year. When the class became incredibly upset and feared for their children, the teacher laughed aloud at them...see if you can figure out why, i know it's long but it's worth it...enjoy ;D
"Following a recent spate of dihydrogen-monoxide related teenage Deaths this summer, this substance has come to my attention. Dihydrogen-monoxide (DHMO) is sometimes called 'Di-mon' on the street.
There is an association between use of DHMO in childhood and later abuse of illicit substances. Some heroin addicts report starting with DHMO, showing its potential as a gateway substance.
Other facts about DHMO:
-It is implicated as a factor in the dopamine transfer of drug abusers.
-It is a component of many IV drugs of abuse.
-It can be a precursor chemical in the manufacture of meth, hashish, and cocaine.
-Its vapors can explode in confined places, killing innocent bystanders.
-It may cause severe burns when abused in its gaseous state.
-It has been found in tumors of some cancer patients who abuse marijuana or cocaine.
The symptoms of DHMO use can be excessive sweating, frequent urination, enuresis and sometimes vomiting. Both DHMO inhalation and withdrawal have been shown to be fatal in extreme cases.
In spite of these known dangers, dihydrogen-monoxide is still readily available to vulnerable teens in almost all school yards and public parks.
A survey conducted in the midwest recently found 86% approval for a ban of this substance, with only 12% supporting no criminal penalty for its use and possession.
