bad news...
i'm having to return the puppy. i know it sounds feeble after less than 24 hours saying so, but he and Max didn't adapt to one another and they won't. Max isn't used to being around dogs, he barks all the time and tries to bite, i'm afraid he might succeed and harm the puppy.
also, Fred's only 40 days old, he's REALLY young (i only got max after his 3rd month of life) and misses his mommy more than he can bear, he doesn't stop crying. he can't be left alone for one second without whining really loud and my mother's already pissed. come monday we'll both be out all day and there's no telling what could happen then. plus, i prefer returning him before he forms any strong attachments to me or the house or the family or the smells.
i could say i'd give it some more time but i know Max, this isn't gonna work, and then it'll be too difficult to say goodbye, he'd suffer even more and so would i. so yea, a fun experience gone wrong, i can't stop crying (cuz this is what i do, cry over small, non important - to others - things), but i have to think about what's best for the dog(s). i feel like shit.

Aw.....that's too bad, Paulo. I think, everything else aside, the most important factor to look at is his age. 40 days IS too young to leave his mother. Puppies really should be at least 60 days old. Not to say you can't get a younger one and raise it, but it takes much more time and energy because the puppy may not be properly weaned, and it still has such a strong attachment to mom. I think you're doing the right thing. Still sucks, though, I know. *hugs* If you ever decide to get another dog, I have ideas on introducing him to Max. So feel free to to PM me about it in the future.

Oh Paulo That's too bad. But I think if it's not working out then you're doing the right thing. Little Fred will ultimately be happier in a different home. And it's NOT an unimportant thing to be crying about. If anyone says it is let me know and I'll have my brick handy.

hehe, thanks girls. i'm feeling much better about it now. i'm also happy to see my own dog a lot more relaxed. he was really stressed with the puppy here. and hey sabsy, i will take you up on that offer in a couple months (well, 10 to be exact) cuz mother's retiring and moving to the country and we wanna get a new dog to keep her and max company then. an older one. still a pup, but at least 90 days old like max was when he came. i still can't believe what i was thinking, a 40-day puppy next to a 3 1/2 y/o dog? never could've worked.

haha... meanwhile, it's not just cuz she's a talentless heck who beat Cate out of sheer luck for running into a part where she could play herself, but Jennifer Hudson's outfit was the epitome of classless. i'd call her white trash, but that wouldn't be politically correct.

^OMG! Your comment about Jen Hudson is hilarious. You fill my day with so much laughter, Paulo. I'm sorry to hear about your lil puppy. I'm sure in another life, he'll understand. Maybe in the future you can have another puppy, and Sabs might have some good advice for you. xo

Helen Mirren rocks. I never thought about it being about abortion. I thought it was more about figuring out who you are and being there for yourself instead of constantly looking for other people to complete you (something I can relate to a lot). Why do you think it's about abortion? Now I want to read the lyrics to look at it that way. That's really interesting.

i don't know, something about the lines "sit in the chair and be good now/and become all they told you/the white coats enter her room/and i'm calling my baby/calling my baby/calling my baby" always made me feel like she's telling of a girl who was forced to have an abortion. seems coherent along the "she's been everybody else's girl/maybe one day she'll be her own" lines. just what i always thought of, ever since the first time i heard it. ^OMG! Your comment about Jen Hudson is hilarious. You fill my day with so much laughter, Paulo. xo i'm so glad you gather my jist, darling. Yeah.. that little jacket thing she was wearing on the red carpet was rather scary. rather scary??? it was a train wreck. Fashionblundercop. all she needed was an iron mask and a shaved head and she could play Robocop's hefty, somewhat tasteless robotic lover.

except, being a PC era, the robots would be full figured and colored. meanwhile, today i just watched Notes on a Scandal and was mightily unimpressed by it. shame, i was so looking forward to that film.

Paulo, I'm sorry to hear about your little doggy. I had to do a similar thing some years ago, it was awful. I had been depressed for a few months, and my parents and sister decided to buy me a puppy as a surprise. It was too cute to be true. I forget what kind it was, but they're small dogs. Anyway, I loved it for a couple of days, gave it a name (Sebastian), and it really did love me back. It sat between my legs as I washed the dishes. But, since I felt I wasn't in any state to look after myself properly, much less another living thing, I had to return it. The Pet Shop owner wasn't too happy, and told my dad that 'this is why we don't do surprises.' I could totally understand.
In other news, Helen Mirren does indeed rock. I saw The Queen twice.
My head hurts and I miss my mummy.
