^ I hear great things about Meryl Streep in that movie. I kind of want to see it, but then also don't... my mum and sister went a couple of weeks ago and I just couldn't do it coz I knew they'd sing along and that drives me crazy I've just been watching random stuff on tv lately.. like *cringe* Titanic - because it was this new high definition version and I wanted to see what it was like... basically, WOW @ HD - that shit is amazing lol.

The Duchess and i think Keira Knightley has finally realized her full potential. it's a beautiful film and her performance is great. prior to that i saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona in what seems like Woody Allen's attempt to become Pedro Almodovar. it's not a bad movie and it's typical Allen, but he's a bit out of his element here. obviously Penelope Cruz delivers like there's no tomorrow. love her.

I desperately want to see The Duchess and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.... it's good to know I won't be disappointed.
Also, I think it was Paulo that asked about Vanity Fair (aaaaaages ago). Personally, I really liked it. But it was incredibly painful to watch.

The Kite Runner, a great one.
Is Valkyrie (with Tom Cruise) already on theaters?

Agh, I want to see that but can't stand Scarlet Johansson... I dunno what it is, there's just something about her. Penelope Cruz is cool though. (I'm not really a Woody Allen fan btw, just thought it looked like a decent movie) Guess I'll have to wait till it's out on dvd.

I watched some of Alien today on tv but couldn't concentrate (sick, snot-addled brain). But it was a marathon of all four, and I recorded them all so ;D - if I don't feel well enough to go to work tomorrow I know how I shall pass the time.

Scarlet Johansson sucks. but hey, Penelope makes up for it. go watch it!!! i watched Benjamin Button last week and cried like a son of a bitch. such a great movie. tonight i saw Revolutionary Road and loved it, though some of the dialogue had the entire movie theater cracking up in laughter in places it was supposed to be sort of sad. i s'ppose that's not a very good thing for a drama. either way, i was very entertained and Kate Winslet rocks. she's the next next Meryl Streep. but still a long way from Cate Blanchett, obviously.

I'll rent it when it's out on dvd. Same with Benjamin Button because I've procrastinated long enough about that, AND I can't sit in a theatre for 3 hours without getting up to go to the loo... so better to wait till I can pause a dvd My sister and I want to see Revolutionary Road, hopefully we get round to that before it's finished at the movies! (probably not.. typical)

Saw Coraline recently. It was good, but not as good as I had hoped. I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more back in my stoner days, d'oh.

i watched The Reader and Doubt doing the Oscars rounds and i'm quite glad Kate Winslet won. mind you, she's no Blanchett, but she sure as hell beat the crap out of Meryl Streep performance-wise. i'm also really glad Penelope Cruz won. so nice to have an Oscar in the family!

^ yep, yay for Kate and Penelope (who looked amazing)
I've watched sweet fuck all lately. Think the last movie I saw was last week, Everyone Says I Love You? sucktastic. musicals or things with random musical numbers are really hit and miss for me... I fast-forwarded most of the singing.
There's lots of stuff I want to see but I can't be bothered going to the movies. sigh.

Control. The Anton Corbijn movie about Joy Division and mainly Ian Curtis.
Excellent and you don't need to be a fan to enjoy it.

I enjoyed Control. Last thing I saw was Into The Wild, beautifully shot but depressing, liked it. Also Saw 5 which was one of the better ones in the series, Shortbus, the follow up to Hedwig from James Cameron Mitchell, erm, not for the fait of heart, I liked it though, most of my faves aren't in the easy to digest catagory, and also A mighty heart. Those were the DVD choices for last week anyway.

Follow up to Hedwig as in it's just the next movie he's made, or is it kinda like a sequel?? (love Hedwig)
I can't remember what the last movie I saw was. Maybe Pineapple Express? I have a few things recorded waiting to be watched but never get round to it.

Yes, not a sequel, just the next movie. Hedwig is classic, this more an experiment, but interesting nonetheless, especially after watching the making of extras. Nice to meet you Aims.
