Lemon Pie, I love Roddy Doyle, but could never get into A Star Called Henry. I don't know why-don't know if I should try Play that Thing!

I'm reading (at this very second and also continuously) Up The Duff by Kaz Cooke. This is a fantastically funny week-by-week pregnancy book from Hels that I am obsessed with! Thank you so much, Herry! I'm also going to be reading "Little Earthquakes" by Jennifer Weiner as soon as I can find a copy. Anyone read this yet? Her other books are great, too - easy and quick reads (light fun books that won't keep you up all night thinking philosophical thoughts). Anyway, there's my plug.

Hmmm, not sure... depends what you mean by "never could get into"... if you didn't finish Henry, then not sure if you should try the other, it's still the same character and the same style of writing, just after moving to America...

I just got back into Piece By Piece, I kinda forgot about it for a while (I know that sounds weird, but I just did...) I just got to the part where she talks about Garlands... I love reading that part.

(I know that sounds weird, but I just did...) Not weird (to me anyway) - I still haven't finished it. Just haven't felt like it.

I'm now reading Siren Rising by James Blandford. (It's a PJ Harvey biography...........) We've talked of this before, but... is it really worth it, you think? Does it feel authentic? I just get the feeling that someone else would never be able to do a proper PJ biography, the way she is about publicity and fame and all that... but I trust your judgement.

The same can be said for ANY biography though. That's why I prefer autobiographies.. but in this case, there isn't one, and it seemed interesting. All it'll be is basic facts about her career, obviously won't be anything in terms of personal stuff because she didn't write it.

Reading Atwood's The Blind Assassin again. Probably my favorite of her stuff, despite of her overuse of the word "oblong".
The first line:
Ten days after the war ended, my sister Laura drove a car off a bridge.
Carly: me and a friend from the East coast just talked about Snow Falling On Cedars! She was shocked when she had read it because her history books and lessons never ever mentioned the camps, whereas here in the northwest it was taught. She got pretty freaked out by how much we can choose not to mention of our own past. I'm sure every country picks and chooses, but it's still a shock when you find out.

I think everybody should be freaked out about that. I finished Snow Falling On Cedars last week and I highly recommend it!

Hmm, I might not check it out then, Aimee... The only reason I even enjoyed Tori Amos's book so much is because it was so intensely personal. I mean, she really let you into her mind, her world.
I just finished it, actually. I put off reading the last section for a few days just so I wouldn't be finished *sigh* I'm sad now that I'm done, lol. That book was so good!

Yeah Jason I know what you mean. I'm leaving Polly on the shelf for a while until I feel finished with all these other books. At the moment I have the following books needing to be finished: Piece By Piece, Dragonsinger (the last of the Anne McCaffrey books my friend lent me), and Fables & Recollections (Neil Gaiman). I want to be done with all of those by the time the new Harry Potter book comes out next month.
