Yikes! Can we not post spoilers right out in the open? Please, place spoliers where people like me, who's only on chapter 14 as of 5 seconds ago, can't see them by accident.
Obviously, I'm reading Half-Blood Prince. *Le sigh* I love HP. xo

HP spoilers make people avoid some pages and then may post less, so maybe you should talk about it privately...

Eh?? *a confused person who is learning Chinese* I'm reading Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Snore. I just don't like colonial literature, and that's it. But I'm very determined to wade through it: I gave up on reading it about 6 years ago--I'm not going to bail out twice!

Oooh, I see. I didn't know that the basic vocabulary of grammar like 'subjects' and 'objects' could be compared with Chinese ;D I think we use a similar idiom to your Chinese one, but we say "it looks like Hebrew to me"

Obviously, I'm reading Half-Blood Prince. *Le sigh* I love HP. xo Same here! I haven't had the chance to get very far because, as usual, I am reading more than one book right now. Plus, I didn't get the book right away because I waited for my sister to finish it first (which didn't take too long, she reads at a ridiculous pace!) However, I'm going to try to focus on this one until it is finished. I've had to stop looking at my friends list on LJ for last couple of weeks because of the damn spoilers!! (One of the few reasons that I have been a bit absent over there recently). Fortunately, I haven't seen any, but I have heard that there have been a TON posted in there. And, judging from Nattie's post, there must be some in this thread, so I didn't look past her post.

I'm not a Potter-fan (at the moment), but whenever I've seen the huge warnings of SPOILERRR in this thread, I've skipped those posts really quick--in case I will want to read the books eventually.
So Lau, most people have put up a spoiler warning (but it's still damn hard not to let your eyes wander and get caught in a word).
I think whenever a big book like this comes out (or a movie) it might be a good idea to start a very own thread for it and indicate in the headline that there will be spoilers involved. Then people who have read it can go discuss the twists and turns over there, and the rest can join them later. Meanwhile the ones who are still in the middle of reading can come to the What Are You Reading?-thread to celebrate their own copy of the new book. Does this sound good?
Luckily most people in my livejournal friends-list have put a huge warning of spoilers in the entry, and put the main entry under a cut so there's no way of seeing anything...

reading Marc Lévy's La Prochaine Fois (Next Time) I'm done! I think the first two hundred pages should have been summed up in a hundred. Pretty good story apart from that.

Because opening my Arnold Anthology to tackle The Heart Of Darkness has become increasingly hard (I'm at the point where Marlow marvels about the "cannibals'" restraint for having not eaten him yet *groan*), I checked out Margaret Atwood's The Edible Woman from the library. I've liked every book save one by Atwood, so I have high hopes for this one, too

I've liked every book save one by Atwood, so I have high hopes for this one, too I've had to read Heart of Darkness for three different classes...I really dislike that book. Right now, I'm reading The Short History of a Prince by Jane Hamilton. I've read The Book of Ruth and Map of the World and loved them both...so I'm sure I'll love this one by her!
