Blowing up things is better than jumping off them. I think.

I haven't had a hug in a really long time. Japan really is not a very hug place, unfortunately And hugs are the best thing in the world.

matzy, I watched the whole game Friday night and with my boss and colleages, and we were eating the furniture!! Haha! Just about everyone was rooting for Argentina, but of course I told them I'd be going for Germany Then, on Satirday night I went out for karaoke and that particular karaoke chain had a special 'Victory Menu' with assorted German (if not a bit Japanised) food. There were German-style potatoes, pizza and sausages. I thought, 'Karaoke, German food - where the hell is MATZY??!!!!!!!' #34#

I haven't had a hug in a really long time. Japan really is not a very hug place, unfortunately And hugs are the best thing in the world. Now this is 6A worthy. I got a lot of bowing in Japan when I lived there as a child. People would just bow to us on the street. I also got a lot of hair-touching. My hair was very light blonde as a child and the Japanese people LOVED to touch it. I remember we would be out places, off the Navy base, like an aquarium or amusement park (the amusement park ROCKED, by the way. There were horses to ride and a REAL maze made with hedges and everything- a kids dream.) and people would come up to my brothers and me and touch our hair and take pictures of us. I'm probably in a bunch of photos albums over there. I think its cool, now, but at age 9 I didn't get it. Oh, another Japan story: I was in a Christian school at our church and one day we went on a field trip somewhere and got lost. So, the pastor of the church stopped at this Buddhist temple, of all places, to ask directions. (Luckily he was fluent in Japanese). I remember the temple vividly, and how they had prayers written on papers hanging from this line. I only found out what that meant in the last couple of years or so. I also remember the smell of incense and just a general reverance I'd never felt in church, and haven't since. The pastor was very nervous and got us out of there as soon as possible. He told us later how he wanted to get out of there because he was afraid they'd do something, I forget what. (For some reason I remember it as "they might want to bless us", but I'm not sure that's accurate. I just remember the pastor's fear mingled with his excitement. It was weird.) I do remember wanting to just stay there... Anyway, BIG tangent, but thought you might like that bit of nostalgia. I've been meaning to PM you about it forever but decided just to post it here for everyone to read. It's kind of a cool story, after all. *HUGE hug.* ♥

I thought, 'Karaoke, German food - where the hell is MATZY??!!!!!!!' #34# haha, sounds like a lot of fun. hopefully there'll be two more german victory menues in japan! the game was indeed a thriller. i can't even begin to describe the atmosphere here. when there's a game, NO ONE stays away from a tv or a screen or something. people gather around the smallest tv units you can find, and you hear nothing but the guy commenting the game - that's the only sound you hear in the city. but when there's a goal for us, there are screams of joy everywhere. i love this. the world cup is the best thing that could happen to germany in this time of economic recession, tax increases and all. i'm happy you were rooting for germany, by the way. you're lovely.
